The Big Bad Jumbo has landed!
As Jimmi, the Founder of Omnium, has progressed more and more in to the world of Mountain Bikes, we thought it about time to make a small batch for our selves. This once-in-a-decade frame is not to be messed with! We give to you 5 different sizes of monster 29+ hardtail mountain bikes (27.5+ for S & XS), coated with a special crackle coating that will make your neighbour look twice.
NB! Frames only come with dropout inserts and thru axle – there is no headset, seatpost clamp, or fork.
Design
The Omnium BBJ is designed as a hardtail that’s nimble enough for mellow single track, but capable of the steep stuff too! At home on a 120-140mm suspension fork, room for juicy 3″ rubbers and headtube gussets, this thing is ready to party!
The frame runs the same adjustable rocker dropouts, as are seen on our line of V3 bikes (CXC, Cargo, Mini-Max, and Mini). However, these are made with boost spacing, 148×12, and the frame comes with 12mm thru axle and gear hanger for external derailleur. Both brake and gear cables run externally, while there is internal routing for your dropperpost. The seattube measures 31.6mm internally and 34.9 for the collar.
Now we know that you like cages, so put loads of mounts both on top and underneath the downtube, as well as made space for one on the seattube.
As mentioned the frames come in 5 different sizes – Medium, Large, and Extra Large are made for 29″+ while sizes Small and Extra Small are 27,5 +. All frames have clearance for 3″ tires, in some cases dependant on rim and tire combo, as well as dropout position.
Finally the headtube is straight 44mm made for semi integrated cup/bearing in the top, and external at the bottom, for tapered fork (1 – 1/8 to 1 – 1/2).
Geometry
The geometry is based on a 3.0″ tire and 120mm suspension fork (at 25% sag with the rider on the bike). For every 10mm of fork travel you add, the head and seat angles will slacken by approximately 0.5 degrees, while the bottom bracket drop reduces by about 4mm.
