To my great surprise I was the winner of the #tryomnium challenge of last September and won a bicycle!
To participate I sat down in yoga pose on a Cargo V3 in front of my trusted bike store unibike.mz , fell off on my first attempt, banged my knee – and the picture that was taken afterwards was drawn among 380 others. Kind of crazy – I’ve never won anything before, especially not on Instagram.
And then this fantastic, super great Omnium Cargo V3 got sent to Mainz – I could hardly believe it.
My favorite bike mechanic and beloved partner in fighting CARpitalism krah.winkel assembled the bike and added a few extras. Many thanks for that 😘
I also asked 2rads_bikebags to make one of her amazing frame bags. And she had these fantastic fabrics that go perfectly with the Blurple color way. 🤩
Coming spring it was time to bring the bike to my new home Nuremberg – with a cargo tour, of course.
So krah.winkel, oliveoolivia, joccalvin and I packed our camping gear and got on our bikes. The tour took us along the Main, through Frankfurt, Hanau, Aschaffenburg and Würzburg.
To be honest: we could hardly have imagined worse weather. It rained most of the three days and we saw some snow, too! The weather demanded a lot from us.. and also caused some injuries – curse you Opelsteg in Rüsselsheim! In the end we had to cut the last stretch short by train.
We had a good time nonetheless – with Rhine-Hessian wine and Franconian beer.
